STRUs are bariatric units (single stretcher) for retrieval and transport of obese people. You do a course on STRU equipment before being rostered onto one. We call them "Fat Trucks". Have some cool stuff like hover matresses, motorized stretcher (with weight scales).
We have one at my local station; has been used to pick up a bariatric patient being transported from Sydney to Brisbane. Met the ASNSW bariatric unit half way between, transferred patient then drove back to Brisbane. No support on roof; hate to be in one if it landed on it's roof.
