Good morning all.
Well monitoring our local fire service looks to be getting even harder.
House burn down plz halp’.
NSW Fire and Rescue is hoping to end its reliance on alarms and printers to spur on-duty fire fighters into action, and has begun testing the market for more modern solutions.

Re: NSW Firies consider dispatch via mobile phones
Thanks for the info.
Hmmmm, can't see that making that any different to what they already have for us listeners.
They do not currently say where they are going etc unless the Firecomm calls them directly on the radio while they are out and about in the truck already (which is fairly rare).

This 'New tender' is only for a call-out system, shouldn't effect radio traffic too much just yet.
I don't see iOS or Android devices being too handy in a truck when they often stop working or freeze up when exposed to extreme temperatures.

For Retained Stations, Mobile Phones have been used for a number of years as pagers.
Mobile Tablets are coming into service late 2015, which will also act as Mobile Data Terminals
For the Station Turnout Equipment, can't see too much changing from the printout system currently in Stations
