Great work alphanull25 - it's good to have a Coomera and Gold Coast feed back (even if it is only a small part of the Gold Coast).

Can you or anyone else confirm which ex - Coomera District and Gold Coast channels/frequencies now cover this area and which Gold Coast channels/frequencies now cover the rest of the Gold Coast District (which is presumably now Southern Gold Coast).

Many thanks.

Cheers.

Hi guys. Sorry I missed all of your posts. I couldn't find my original post and forgot to check for responses. Glad you are enjoying this stream. 469.0125 is at Beenleigh now and thats where I live so its really good signal. 468.775 used to be Coomera, but has moved to Logan. I can receive Gold Coast South on 468.7125 at Surfers on the outdoor antenna. This is good audio, but interference from 468.725 Mount Cotton. Too many hills around to get any further than Surfers. I was hoping to get the repeaters at Springbrook, but no luck from here. I even got my stream into the top 50 a couple of times in the last week. Now that was impressive. Not sure why. Nothing going on. Coomera is a nice channel to listen to while I am working as it is not too busy and distracting. Cheers

A Gold Coast South feed would be fantastic if you can get it up and running without too much interference Alphanull25.........

And Coomera District no longer exists guys and has been split between Logan and Gold Coast Districts. Coomera, Nerang and Mudgeeraba have gone to Gold Coast District (as well as Jacobs Well and Norfolk Village NPBs) and North Tamborine, Beaudesert, Canungra and Rathdowney have gone to Logan District.

Cheers.

That surprises me - I can get Springbrook from home (near the Port of Bris) with my antenna around 8m up

Hi Guys
Thanks for that tip Grunter1. From what I have heard on the channels its Gold Coast North and Gold Coast South. The Charlie callsigns are still used for the Coomera district and surrounds.

Where I live, I can only use a low antenna on the roof and the house is behind a big hill. I would have loved to find a place on top of a hill, but there are more important things than hobbies unfortunately :) My brother gets Springbrook from Redcliffe, when the conditions are good. http://www.ve2dbe.com/rmonline.html.
This site is good for predicting line of sight receiving.

In order to run the Gold Coast south feed as well I would need a splitter on the main antenna so I can enjoy other stuff without losing signal. At the moment the Coomera feed is run off a potable with an internal antenna as I am quite close to the repeater. Gold Coast South comes in with minimal signal strength on the main antenna. I saw a splitter that claimed no signal loss, but they wanted 200 bucks for it.

Enjoy

Hi Everyone. I just changed the feed name to Gold Coast North. This may have disconnected any listeners briefly, but I wanted to display the correct info. Cheers Niall

Re: VKR Gold Coast Feed Upgraded

Post by alphanull25 »

Hi. I have put the feed onto a 780XLT and an external antenna. This allows alpha tags so you can see which channel is working. I took 160.775 away. It was being used by some Asian fisherman yesterday and I thought it would be best to lock it out. New channels added are

468.750 which appears to be Ipswich/Boonah (Mt Glorious).

Two other Ipswich channels are in the scan 468.850 and 468.325.
No reception on those two from here on that antenna, which is very odd seeing that 468.850 is much closer than Mt Glorious.

468.7125 Gold Coast South (Q1 Tower). This channel gets breakthrough from 468.725 at Mt Cotton.

462.3625 NSW Ambos Northern Control (Mt Cootha) Lismore, Ballina, Tweed, Byron and Grafton

These channels will be affected by propagation from time to time.

The normal channels 459.2125 (Q1 Tower GC South) and 469.0125 (Beenleigh GC North) come in loud and clear. Even to the casual radio fan, 459.2125 being received from 60kms away is very strange. However it works. I think it might be tied in to the Beenleigh repeater somehow.

I think I exist in an odd portal of UHF skip lol

Hey Niall,

This feed just gets better and better!

The interference from the Logan channel does make listening to Gold Coast South a bit difficult - is it not possible to just lock out the Logan frequency (468.725) which would leave Gold Coast South clearer as it is a bit weaker than Gold Coast North.

Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hi
I agree that the interference is a bit of a pain. I fixed it on my main system by setting the frequency down lower by 6.25 khz. Unfortunately the 780XLT doesnt do that. If you think about it, locking out a channel doesnt help as its the repeater that is interfering, not the scanner lol. I dont have 468.725 programmed in anyway. I did think along those lines myself at one point and then thought no wait that wont work. I tidied the scanner bank up a bit last night, removing channels that pick up nothing. As of now we have the following

469.0125 GC North at Beenleigh
459.2125 GC South Q1 Surfers strong signal but only VKR base
468.7125 GC South Q1 Surfers both base and mobiles, but weaker signal
468.7500 Ipswich Country Mount Glorious. Affected by distance also, but usually quite good.
462.3625 Far North NSW Ambulance. Mount Cootha. This has an annoying repeater activation every couple of minutes, typical of NSW Fire and ambulance repeaters. I tried to fix it using the DataSkip function, but that just made the stream sound terrible
160.775 VKR Water Police. Dont know whats happening with this one. Have not heard it for ages

The feed sends alpha tags, so if you monitor it on winamp or other compatible program you can see which frequency you are hearing

Glad you are liking it. :)
