Tait phone patch
Not really sure where to put this but how dose phone patch / making phone calls from a radio work? Do you have to link with the phone network or can you link it to a business phone plan?

Re: Tait phone patch
Lets start from the phone end.
A spare line is connected to a telephone interconnect, say for example a Design 2000 TA4800 (TACT). Made here locally in Ferntree Gully. It can be on any of your normal PSTN or PABX lines.
The TACT then interfaces, (simple wire connection) into the receiving radio.
When you dial from your DTMF enabled portable or mobile radio to the receiving radio connected to the TACT, the call is placed.
That's how I install them anyway.
Can't do it over CB or Amateur radio. This is for a commercial installation.
